Carl Ray Holland, 77, passed away on January 4, 2019. He was born on May 11, 1941 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to Raymond Carl Holland and Alice Isabel (Harrell) Holland. Carl joined the United States Navy after high school. After four years of service, he began his civilian career at Western Merchandisers working in the warehouse. Within a few years, he started what would be a lifelong career in sales. He began selling records and then eventually started a record sales company, C&D sales. It was in his many travels that he met the love of his life, Erma Dean “the dog show queen”. He continued in sales until he found his passion in mattress and furniture sales in 1983 at Spring Air. He continued working there until he switched brands and became known as “Corsicana Carl” in 1999. He worked for Corsicana Bedding until his retirement in 2012. Carl loved many things such as golf, watching Gun Smoke, Andy Griffith, and OU football. Carl also loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. But his favorite outdoor activity was riding on his lawn mower (sometimes 2-3 times a week!) He loved going out to eat and spending time with his family. Carl was also a long time member at Sunnylane Family Church. Carl’s memories will continue to be cherished by his daughter, Deann Smith; son, David Holland and wife, Shanna; grandchildren, Cassidy Massie and husband, Brett; Dacota Smith; and Sydney Holland; great-grandchildren, Paxton and Holland Massie; a host of nieces and nephews; daughter, Carla; granddaughters, Courtney and Jordan; and sister, Gloria. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma; and his beloved wife of 46 years, Erma Holland.

The Holland family was one of the nicest families at Sunnylane while we were all growing up in church together. I am privileged to know David and his family still! God bless you all
