Chong Cha Galloway was born Chong Cha Kim Sept 29, 1942 in Nachu Kun, Cholla Nam Do, South Korea. The daughter of Wi Tae Kim and Chon Ye Oh. She had two siblings, Kyung Cha Yu and James Ok Kim.

Chong met Theo Galloway in 1967 in Osan, South Korea. The couple fell in love and were married Sept 15, 1969 in Seoul, South Korea. Theo and Chong moved from South Korea to Monroe, Louisiana in 1971 and subsequently moved to OKC in 1974, where they decided to reside and raise their two daughters, Kim Cha Brown and DionNe Kim Galloway.

Chong was a devoted wife and mother. She cherished her time traveling, dining, and interacting with her family and friends.

She worked for Western Electric Company and retired from General Motors after 25 years. She was an extremely dependable employee; while at GM, Chong received numerous accolades citing her commitment to excellence, including one award for working 25 years without taking a sick day. This describes her true commitment and dedication, which exemplified her life.

Chong’s love for Jesus, her family and community was evident in the way she served. She worshipped God and was very active in Church. She was a committed member of Vision Community Church with Pastor Chris Nam.

She enjoyed gardening and serving the Lord. Several good examples were making her famous eggrolls, which she often sold to generate funds for the church. She treasured preparing eggrolls, kimchi…etc., throughout the years, because it enabled her to spend productive time with her family and at the same time benefit others. Also, she offered her time, talent and treasures to just about anyone who was in need. On numerous occasions, Chong made the Galloway home available to people making life transitions.

Chong was an inspiration to all who knew her. She approached everything with an unparalleled exuberance and had a zest for life that was infectious. She always had a positive outlook and made the best out of every situation.

Jesus called Chong home on February 4, 2019. She is survived by her “Yobo” Theo; sister Kyung; brother James; daughters Kim and DionNe; son Vernon Brown; grandchildren Brittany, Mark, and Brianna; niece Sue Marshall, as well as her extended children Carlen, Theo Jr, Leroy, Jerome, Arlander—Galloway; along with a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Theo,
I know its been years since we have had any contact but Yvonne has kept me informed of you and the growth of your family. I do however wanted to just say "May god hold you and your family close during this time of grief. He is forever present in our lives and will be there for you and yours.
