Darlene Fern Franklin

Darlene Fern Mason Franklin was born May 20, 1918 and died peacefully in her sleep December 14, 2011. Before moving to her son’s home she resided at 204 NE 21 St, Moore, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roy Mason and Vesta Mae Miller Mason; her husband, Rynold William and two children, Willa Mae and Ernest Dale. She is survived by Roy James Franklin of Duncan, Oklahoma and Martha Jane Smallwood of Wichita, Kansas; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Fern devoted her life to her family, church and community. She and Rynold farmed 160 acres in Cleveland Country until his retirement. She was active in Antioch Christian Church and the community teaching children in Sunday School and leading in 4-H club and Girls Scouts. Upon Rynold’s retirement they moved to Moore. After her retirement from Food Services of the Moore Public School she gave much time in the Moore Hospital, Moore Community Church, Moore Senior Citizens Center and the Moore Public Library. She continued her love of sewing by making hundreds of quilts to be given to those in need. Graveside Services will be at the Moore Cemetery December 29th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial gifts be given to the Moore Public Library of Senior Citizens Center.
