

David graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1963. While in high school he was a golden glove boxer. He enlisted in the Navy and served in aircraft maintenance at China Lake, California. He was honorably discharged in 1969. After his discharge from the Navy, David fulfilled his dream of owning his own custom paint and body shop. He was passionate about his work and his business, his business excelled.
David also loved music and dancing. He was an avid collector of all genres of music. As a youth, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially camping at Sulphur every summer. He also loved spending many summer vacations with his cousin Bobby, Aunt Lola and Uncle Servel. David enjoyed sharing his son, David with his family and friends. He loved Christmas with David, taking him from one family members house to another to share and enjoy the holidays. David was also blessed with his daughter, Olivia Maria Doonkeen who was born in 1987.
Survivors include his mother, Alice Louise (Peaster) Bledsoe; son David A. Doonkeen, daughter Olivia Doonkeen Lindsey. Grandchildren, David JR, Natalie Louise, Sophia Marilyn Doonkeen and Emylia Marie Lindsey; one brother, Pete Doonkeen and his wife Lisa; three sisters, Olivia Ezell, Marilyn Beitler and her husband Denny, Chris Hammack and her husband Keith, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Doonkeen and sister Carol Doonkeen.
