Debra was born in Oklahoma City, OK on May 7, 1952. She grew up in Midwest City, where she attended Star, Telestar, and Ridgecrest Elementary Schools, Monroney Junior High, and Midwest City High School, graduating in 1970. Debra also attended Bethany Nazarene College, now SNU.
Debra was a working mother and role model to her young daughters, Amy and Emily. She worked many years at Irwin Business Machines before moving briefly to Shawnee, OK. She then returned to live in Del City and began her career with Este’ Lauder at Dillard’s. Debra worked for over 20 years, until the closing of Heritage Park Mall in Midwest City. Debra then continued her career in cosmetics by accepting a position in the cosmetics department at the Base Exchange at Tinker AFB.
Debra was the consummate mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She spent many days caring for her grandchildren, making sure their lives were fun and balanced. She loved spending time with her father and loved to enjoy days by the pool. But, most of all, she just enjoyed being around her family and relaxing at home with her husband and her three dogs Lola, Lucy, and Jolene.
Debra was a proud member of Cornerstone Church and was again baptized in the fall of 2011. She was a simple and modest woman, with few demands on others but with countless time to help those around her. Her strong will in tough times and her love for God helped her through many challenges. Debra had many friends – those she saw at her cosmetics counter and some who didn’t even know her name. She was kind and gentle, and her soft-spoken way of helping others will be greatly missed.
During her sickness, Debra was a pioneer in heart therapy and was one of the first in Oklahoma to use the LifeVest. Her life was spared by the vest and her time with her family was extended by this invention. Her family extends the heartfelt thanks to those who allowed her to use the device.
Debra’s faith in the Lord was always evident and she was testimony of God’s great power, as she saw many miracles in her own life during her illness. Debra always made sure that all who knew her understood that God was in charge of her life and her future.
Debra was preceded in death by her Mother, Willie Jean Overland and her sister Jill Elaine Overland.
Debra is survived by her husband, Bill Budde of the home, Debra’s daughter Amy Kelley, husband Jack Kelley and daughter Emily Nichols. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Carly, Gracie, Addison, Cruz and Morgan; and one great grandchild, Brody. She is also survived by her father, Darrell Overland of Midwest City and her brothers Dan Overland of Shawnee and Scott Overland of Midwest City.
Services will be held Thursday, September 6th at 10:00am at Cornerstone Church, 9900 Southeast 15th Street in Midwest City with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Heart Association.
