MY DAD

My dad loved God.  He dedicated many years of his life to serving God and trying to live his life in accordance with God's will.

My dad always worked hard.  He believed in giving an honest day's work for a fair wage.  He taught his children to do the same.  Men would say, “your dad could out work me.”  Our dad instilled in my brother and I the idea of hard work.  I can't tell you how many lawns we mowed working with him.  But my brother and I are both thankful that our dad taught us the principles of hard work.  Whatever success we have today, is because he instilled those principles in us early in our lives.

My dad's love for my mother was always present, very deep, 62 years time tested and forever strong.  He very affectionately called her (Baby Doll)

My dad loved his family.  The love he showed within our family made our relationships within our family strong and lasting.  I witnessed my dad, risking his own life to save my older brother from a rattlesnake.  This was just one way he showed his love for his family.

My dad was a man of integrity.  He believed the Bible was the infallible word of God.  He applied the Bible's words to his life and he lived out his life with what the Bible speaks about that a man's life should be.  My father treated other people the way he believed that God wanted him to treat them.  He would take a loss in a business deal, to make sure the person he dealt with was treated fairly.

My dad was a man's man.  He loved to fish.  He loved to hunt.  But most of all, he loved to play the game of golf. He used to re-design his clubs.  He even designed some of his own clubs and had them made.  He loved everything about the game of golf.  He spent over 50 years of his life…playing the game that he loved.  My dad loved being a man and being a friend to other men.  I remember Jeff Spriggs' famous stink bait and fishing all night under the Washita Bridge.  I remember seeing a little white ball sail over 400 yards in the air, from a driver that was12-14 inches longer than anyone else's golf club.

Dad,  Your strength gave me strength.  Your love, taught me how to love.  Your wisdom has made me wise.  Your leadership has taught me how to lead.  Your example helped me to be a better man.  Your life lives on through the many lives you've touched and are still apart of today.  For years to come you'll be a light in a dark world to our family and to others.    We love you…Dad.

In John 6:40, Jesus says
For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”  

Praise God that He loves us and pursues us.  My grandpa is now with Jesus, our Savior and King rejoicing in His glory forever!! Can't wait to join him there.  I love you grandpa, give everyone big hugs for me.

We are so happy you get to go meet our Lord!  We are going to miss you very much!  Thank you for always being such a great Christian example.  We sure going to miss you singing/humming those beautiful songs!  Give Donita and Dena a hug for me and tell them someday we will all be together again!  Love you so much!
