Donald A. Firkins

Donald A. Firkins was born April 5,1933 to Maynard and Irene Firkins in Rodman, IA. He passed away August 10, 2011 in Del City, OK. In 1954 he married Rosa Bruce of Edmond, OK and to this union 4 sons were born.He retired form the USAF after 26 years as a Chief Master Sergeant including tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was commander of VFW Post 9969 in Del City, OK. His others activities included boating and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Audrey Firkins, his son Ronald B. Firkins, 1 granddaughter Ruth Firkins, and 1 great grandson Caden Bruce Firkins. He is survived by 3 sons; Donald and his wife Angel and 5 children of Hamburg, Germany, Gary Firkins of Oklahoma City, OK and Larry and his wife Melesa and 1 son of Newalla, OK. 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and the mother of his children Rosa Firkins,and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He is also survived by 1 sister Beverly Schmidt and 1 brother Dewayne Firkins, both of Iowa. The family wishes to thank Meadow Lakes Sienna Nursing Home and Hospice Quality Care and all the staff who has taken care of Don in the last 7 years. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
