

Donald L. Shelton was born on July 16, 1921 in Bradley, OK. He entered eternal rest in Oklahoma City on October 10, 2008. Don’s parents, Claude Shelton and Mabel Marshall Shelton both predeceased him. Don attended school in Blanchard and remained fond of the Blanchard area his entire life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World II and the Korean War. While in the Army, Don met Polly Hibbard and there was an immediate attraction between them. Don and Polly were married in 1946 and have been loving companions since that time. After his service in the Army, Don worked for the VA and later he was employed at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by daughters Donna K. Steward and Ann D. Shelton. Survivors also include his grandsons U.S. Marine Sgt. Chad Steward and Michael Pittman. Don is also survived by great granddaughters Breanah Haynes and Michaela Pittman, many nieces, nephews and friends. Don was always very interested in politics and social issues. He was always ready to discuss politics and the issues of the day. He cared deeply about his country and his family. He will be missed by all.
