I have know the Blackbirds since I was in elementary school. Barry was one of my best friends and we lived a couple of blocks away from each other. I have fond memories of his mother, Donna, spoiling us on sleep-overs with lots of treats. She also would drive us up to the Del City movie theatre and the swimming pool in the summers which was a nice break from going everywhere on our bikes. My thoughts and condolences go out to the entire Blackbird family.

Aunt Donna was such a special woman who made everyone around her feel so at home. She had the sweetest heart, and I will miss her greatly. Her kindness was a defining characteristic of all the memories I have with her. She never raised her voice, only to say, Buster, get down!
From the sugary cherry coke machine, to the lake house special visits, lunches with Uncle Dwyne, Aunt Bettie, and yearly visits with the family and kids, she holds a big place in my heart.
Sympathies to her Wonderful life partner, Uncle Ronnie, her sons and Grandchildren. You are very fortunate to have had her so close. She always had a smile, always positive.
She will be missed.

My last two in a half years of school was spent working in the cafeteria with Donna and the rest of the wonderful women who worked there. Donna always had a smile on her face and always had a kind word to say. I always looked forward to going to work because I got to spend it with some wonderful ladies. I am so blessed to have been able to meet and work with Donna. May she rest in peace and God bless her husband and family. Sh was a great person and will be greatly missed.

My hearts breaks to hear this. Thoughts and prayer for the family. I loved running to the cafeteria for lunch! All the cafeteria lady’s where so special to all of my family! We loved Donna and she always made sure we had breakfast and lunch even if we forgot our lunch money. I ran into Donna last year at the grocery store and gave her a big hug and thanked her for always being such an amazing person! She will be missed! Love, Gary Wayne and Valentina VanCuren
