Donna P. Ward

June 19, 1927May 4, 2018

Donna peacefully passed away on the evening of May 5, 2018 with her niece and husband (Stephanie and Dan) and granddaughter Keisha at her bedside. In Aug 2017 Donna moved to Arkansas and lived with Stephanie and Dan who were her full time caretakers.

Donna was born (1927) in Oberlin, KS on a farm to Alfred and Opal Pelkey McChesney. She had an older brother, Carl (1925), then 2 more brothers Dale (1929) and Lea Don (1941). Finally, a sister, Vergie (1944).

She married Dave McCaun on Feb. 2 1946 in Norton, KS and had 3 sons, Larry (1947), Gary (1949), and David Lee (1952). Before moving to Oklahoma City in the early 50’s, they lived in Minatare, NE and Clovis, NM.

On Aug 4, 1979 in Oklahoma City, she married John Ward.

Most of her adult life she worked as a waitress at OKC airport for Sky Chef as well as hostess at various restaurants. Even managed to work in the accounting department for a hotel in downtown OKC….not her cup of tea (too confining)---went back to hosting.

As a member in good standing at Southern Hills Baptist Church, she volunteered for EVERYTHING they had to offer in a multitude of programs. She loved to fish, dance, sing, work in her garden, travel, AND MOST OF ALL CHRISTMAS.

Survivors include her son, Larry and wife Vicki, sister Vergie and husband Gerald, sister-in-laws Mickie and Fannie, nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Stacey, Alfred, Allen, Carl Lee, Marla, grandchildren, Johnny, Keisha, Brandy, Christi, David, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Donna in death were her 2 husbands (Dave McCaun and John Ward), her parents, 3 brothers (Carle, Dale and Lea Don), 2 sons (Gary and David Lee), granddaughter (Mindy), and her best friend (Truman Spencer).

Visitation will be held 12pm-8pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00am Friday, May 11, 2018 at Southern Hills Baptist Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.

We loved Mother and Grandmother and have several fun memories with her. One of our favorite memories is picking tomatoes with her in her garden. She always had the Best and Biggest yummy tomatoes! We always looked forward to visits with her! As her son she was always encouraging me to travel and see the world. I have many fond memories of my mother. She was a wonderful treasure to us all, always showing love and happiness to us. We will miss her dearly. We all loved her so much!

Love from her son & daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
Larry and Vickie, David and Destiny, Christi and Michael, Jonathan, Zachary and Caleb

She always loved having her hair done, so we had a standing appointment with her hair dresser willie. Willie loved working with older clients, she always encouraged them and did a great job making them look beautiful.
