Mame “Doris” LaMountain, 88 who resided in Oklahoma City, OK, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 peacefully at her home. Doris was born October 20, 1932 in Lugoff, South Carolina to George and Mary Ray. Doris worked as a florist at Rosemary Gardens in Topeka, KS for twenty years. She left there and worked several years at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, KS. She then worked as a supervisor for 15 years at the Kansas State Judicial System of which she retired. While working for the Judicial System, Doris received several awards of excellence. After being retired for a couple of years she then decided to go back to work part-time at Presbyterian Manor.
She loved to reminisce about her family and childhood growing up in South Carolina. Doris enjoyed cooking, it was her favorite thing to do. Nothing made her happier than to cook holiday meals and see her family and friends enjoy her cooking. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching classic movies as a past time. She also loved to play Scrabble and Rummy; which she got her biggest win ever against her daughter the night before she passed. She was preceded in death by her parents, ten of her siblings, and two of her children, Brian LaMountain and Eve VanBuskirk. Doris is survived by her daughters, Gayle Ray of Oklahoma City, OK, Darlene LaMountain (Jeff Bartholomew) Topeka, KS, and Ruth LaMountain Topeka, KS. She is also survived by seven beloved grandchildren, Liza Eatmon, OKC, Deborah Hollins (Joseph), OKC, Ronald VanBuskirk (Ashley), Topeka, KS, Kristen Johnson (Cash), OKC, Edward VanBuskirk, Topeka, KS, Derek VanBuskirk, Topeka KS, and Stephen Booth (Kristen), OKC, nineteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the most generous, kind, and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend anyone could have had. She will be forever loved and missed.
