

Douglas Lawrence Vangilder born on April 27, 1944 passed away in Midwest City to his eternal home on July 21, 2016. Douglas was born in Sikeston, Missouri to Richard Lee Vangilder and Ruth Lucille (Clark) Vangilder.
He graduated from Crooked Oak High School in 1962 and to this day still holds a weight lifting record of 205 pounds while only weighing 120 pounds. While in high school he met the love of his life Pat (VanCuren) Vangilder and they have shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Many of his hobbies included fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing Jeopardy, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Survivors include his wife Pat Vangilder; children Doug Vangilder (Kim), Darrell Vangilder (Emilie), Dana Pomplun (Doug); grandchildren Kaitlin Raynor (Jaeman), Karissa Marrs (Randall), A.J. Stroud, Dane Vangilder, Hanna Pomplun, and Haley Pomplun; great-grandchild Aliyah Raynor; siblings, Harold Vangilder (Carmelle), Frank Vangilder (Anna); and many nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly.
Visitation will begin on Monday 7/25/2016 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family available to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Sunny Lane Family Church with interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
