Dulcia June (Morton) Buckley was born May 4, 1926, in Wilson, OK, to Robert Hill Morton and Sinia (Clark) Morton. June was the youngest of three children. Shortly after she was born her family moved to Abilene, TX, where she later graduated from Abilene High School in 1943. After graduation, June attended Hill Business College. She always loved learning and later attended classes at Rose State College and Oklahoma University to earn an associate degree. In 1944, June applied at Douglas Aircraft (later Tinker AFB) and was hired as an Assembly General Helper. June became one of the nation’s “Rosie The Riveters” and worked on C-47 cargo planes. After the war was over, June continued her federal career as a Clerk Typist at Ardmore Air Base, OK, in 1945. It was during this time that June’s love of aircraft and aviation motivated her to work for and earn a private pilot’s license for single engine land planes. She accomplished this goal in 1951. June continued her federal career by working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC and OKC offices in 1947, where she transcribed the field agent reports. In 1956, June came to work at Tinker AFB. She held many positions, i.e. telegraph/teletype operator; clerk typist; and finally procurement clerk for the Commodities Procurement Division. During her career, June earned many outstanding ratings, awards and commendations for her dedication to her work. In addition to having a career outside the home, June found time to raise a family. Janet, Terri, and Robert were her second career. She retired in 1985 after 36 years of federal service.
