Earlene Martin Tanner was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 14, 1934. She lived in Oklahoma her entire life. She had a strong faith in our Lord and savior and was baptized on April 11, 1948. Earlene entered Heaven’s gates on September 22, 2019, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her father Earl Martin and mother Jewel Smoot Daniels, and great grandson Elijah Jenney

She was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She worked at American General Life Insurance Company as head cashier for 32 years prior to her retirement. Earlene was a remarkable cook and for many years leading up to her passing, she collected a large library of cookbooks and cooking magazines. She often watched food and cooking channels during her spare time. She was a dedicated sports fan of the Oklahoma University Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys football and baseball teams and OKC Thunder basketball. Earlene was also an avid quilter and expert at crochet. She delighted in pleasing others with her gifts of quilt or crochet blankets. In addition, Earlene was an extremely accomplished seamstress, sewing often into the middle of the night on a garment for her girls. Earlene loved to travel, her most precious trip to Jerusalem. Earlene loved to read and study facts about world history and the Bible. She taught Sunday school for over 15 years and faithfully studied for the next week lesson every single day. She was joyful and confident is sharing God’s word with others. The Sunday school class is named “Sisters by Grace”. She dearly loved and valued each and every member’s friendship, faith and love for Christ. Earlene greatly enjoyed and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing pleased Earlene (NANA) more than to have them all together. Earlene’s love shined through in that big sweet smile of hers. She did not know a stranger and desired to make all feel welcome and important.

The family gives their greatest and warmest gratitude to Sirese and CJ at Quality Hospice Care, the First Southern Baptist Church family, Bob Schobert, FOCUS church members, “Sisters by Grace”, neighbors, friends and all who called, visited and prayed for and with Earlene. Special thanks to Senee’ Bocquin for her endless assistance and friendship and to Brenda Sasnett for the care, hours and love she provided while constructing the beautiful video tribute to Earlene.

Earlene’s memory will continue to be cherished by her beloved husband Francis Tanner of 69 years; daughter Frances and husband Bob, daughter Nancy and husband Joe, daughter Debora and husband Mike; grandchildren Stephanie Jenney, Joseph Solomon, Stacy Chronister and Barrett Dahl; great grandchildren Tyler Holden, Ethan Jenney, Justin Jenney, Cade Chronister, Emory Chronister, and Logan Schultz; and many beloved family members and friends.

May God's grace and peace be with my Uncle Francis, my cousins, Frances, Nancy and Debra and their families during this time of grief and loss. I love each of them deeply and know that Aunt Earlene is smiling down on each of them with that wonderfully sweet smile of hers. She is so wonderfully happy to be with the Lord. Peace be with you. Blessed are you in the name of the Lord.
