

Elsie Mae (Arva) Christner, 92, of Oklahoma City, went home to be with the Lord March 2, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born May 4, 1924 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late Konrad and Elizabeth (Rosinger) Arva. After graduating from John Harris High School, she met her future husband, Richard, while working at the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA. They married March 1, 1945 in Harrisburg, and later moved to Del City, OK in 1967, where they resided for 44 years. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother, Elsie also worked various part-time jobs. Her hobbies included ceramics, gardening, going to the casino, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Elsie and her husband moved to Meadowlakes Retirement Village in 2011, where she enjoyed playing bingo, attending prayer meetings and keeping her mind sharp with word search books. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and her husband of 66 years. She is survived by her sister-in-law Annabelle Arva of Mechanicsburg, PA; four children: Terri Sabina and husband Mark of Pittsburgh, PA; Richard Christner, Jr. and wife Olivia of Oklahoma City; Ranee Tillis and husband Jim of Mt. Sterling, OH; Robin Iago and husband Arnie of Newcastle; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Her family would like to say thank you to the MRV staff and residents for their loving care and friendship. Viewing will be Monday, March 6, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Cathy Tisher in the Sunny Lane Cemetery Chapel in Del City on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow.
