Elsie was born and raised in Mannsville, OK to G.L. and Blanche (Morrow) Eastman. Elsie graduated valedictorian from Mannsville High School in 1952. After high school, Elsie worked at Montgomery Wards in Ardmore, OK where she met her future mother-in-law who introduced her to her future husband, Leamon Suttle. They were married August 24, 1954. After setting up their home in Ardmore, they had their first son, Greg. Soon after that, they moved to Sapulpa, OK where they welcomed their only daughter, Patti. In 1959 they moved to Del City, OK and added to the family with another son, Jeff.
Elsie and Leamon made a great team. She held down the home front and would do everything she could to support Leamon in all of his business ventures and civic leadership. Elsie was the ultimate stay-at-home mom being involved with many of the activities of the kids, such as helping with Cub Scouts, Homeroom Mother, and PTA. She provided a wonderful home for her family. Most summers for the family were spent going to Lake Eufaula or enjoying the backyard pool. One of Elsie’s loves was traveling with the family on motorhome trips whether it was for pleasure to ball games, snow skiing trips or Disney World or to Leamon’s business ventures of cow sales, Sonic Drive Ins and Showtime Video stores. She never missed a go. In later years, Elsie and Leamon traveled all over the country with friends and family, going to many of the grandchildren’s events. Through the years, Leamon would sell a motorhome with everything in it, so Elsie would get to decorate the next one all over again.
Elsie loved her extended family so much that she helped start an annual Easter family reunion that has continued for 50+ years. She spent much time preparing food for the group and taking the time to prepare special individual desserts for her children and their spouses.
Elsie is survived by son Greg (Brenda) Suttle of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Patti (David) Sharp of Conroe, TX and son Jeff Suttle of Oklahoma City, OK, granddaughter Leslie (Carl) Foy of Missouri City, TX, grandson Jeremy Suttle of Norman, OK, grandson Daniel (Savannah) Sharp of Conroe, TX, granddaughter Madison (Daniel) Holcomb of Skiatook, OK, granddaughter Brooklyn (Zayne) Whitchurch of Moore, OK, grandson Mitchell Suttle of Edmond, OK, granddaughter Abigail Suttle of Edmond, OK, granddaughter Jessica Dee of Hilo, HI, and great-grandchildren Daniel Jr and Lucas Sharp of Conroe, TX, sister Georgia Simmons of Del City, OK, brother Sherwood (Linda) Eastman of Yale, OK, brother Lyle (Leah) Eastman of Stillwater, OK, as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.
