Emma grew up in El Paso, then she got married to the love of her life, Arturo Baquera, Sr. They met and worked together at Luby’s Cafeteria. I remember my mother telling me the story about how she liked my dad and when she had him alone, she kissed him and ran away. Emma was a special person, taking in a son (me). This will always hold a special place in my heart. I have, and will always, see her as my mother and nothing else.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Jesusita Rios; brother, Charlie; sisters, Dian and Antonia.
She is survived by her loving son, Arturo (Torito) Baquera, Jr.; brothers, Louie and Marcos; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emma always loved to laugh and was always down for some good food. She will be missed dearly.
