Emmanuel Nicholas Nii Armah Hammond

He was a native Oklahoman, although he was born in Accra,Ghana, He migrated to the USA with his family when he was only 4 months old earning him another nickname as the Basket Baby because most people remember him being carried everywhere in his baby basket!

Nicholas grew up very compassionate and humble. He had a drive and determination about him, which allowed him to be steadfast and know what he wanted out of this world. He was fun loving, a kind and gentle soul. His happy place was in his room playing the PS4 online with his friends. He would barely talk, but he was so relaxed and gave off such a calm and non judgmental demeanor which made people feel safe and accepted whenever they came in contact with him.

From a very early age Nicholas loved sports and participated in various sporting activities. He was best at playing base ball and a great soccer player but his all time favorite was football. He was so good he could play any position he was assigned, either as an offensive or defensive player. In one game, he scored seven touch downs. A great achievement indeed. He was a darling of his coaches in every sport he played. At one point his soccer couch asked his Mom if he was sure her son was only six years old! The coach said he played like he was twelve years old.

Nii Armah graduated from South Moore High School in May of 2016. He always wanted to help people which is why he enrolled in college to study criminal justice with the hope of being a police detective. He said, “I want to keep people safe and help the people who can’t help themselves.” He had a deep concern for the welfare of others. Even on his sick bed in the hospital he always asked the nurses how they were doing. This always surprised the nurses and they knew he was a special young man.

Nii Armah is gone from this life but he’s not lost. We know that he’s in a special place in the arms of Jesus and that one day we all shall see him again.
