

Flora Lee was baptized into the Community of Faith at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Midwest City, June 13, 1949, taking the baptismal name of Frances, after her Patron Saint, St. Francis of Assisi. She was an Oblate of St. Benedict, affiliated with the Abbey of St. Gregory, Shawnee, Oklahoma. One of Flora Lee’s greatest joys was the privilege of being commissioned a Belief Shalala as a Eucharistic Minister in the late 80’s with the encouragement of her Pastor and mentor, Fr. John W. Feehily. The family moved to OKC when Flora Lee was 2 years old. She was educated in the OKC public school system, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1933. While at Central, Flora Lee had an interest in Journalism and was on the editorial staff of the school newspaper serving as Feature Editor and Associate Editor during her Junior and Senior years at Central. Upon graduating Flora Lee became a legal secretary and worked for two prestigious law firms in OKC. On December 24, 1938, Flora Lee was married to Philo B. Mee. The ceremony was conducted by Karrie L. Danner, one of her employers, who was a member of the Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma at the time.
Flora is survived by her four children and one deceased child, Marilyn Barnett and husband Danny, of the City; Michael Mee (deceased), Donald Mee and wife Joanne, of Tulsa; Stephen Mee, Green Mtn Falls, Colorado; and David Mee and wife Gail, of the City. Other survivors are 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Flora Lee has received many blessings and gifts in her life from family and special friends, But Gods Holy gift of Faith was the greatest gift of all, enduring through all Eternity. “Eyes have not seen; ears have not heard what God has ready for those who love him…” We extend a warm welcome to all who can join us to celebrate her life. . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. September 15, 2015, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Fr. John W. Feehily officiating with interment following in Arlington Memory Gardens.
