Florence Jessie Ellison

Florence Jessie Ellison passed away on May 15, 2019 in Hardy, Arkansas. She was born on November 17, 1921 in Okarche, Oklahoma to Albert Lee and Elsie (Heupel) Higgins. She had 10 siblings. After high school, Florence married Tralley Richard “T.R.” Ellison in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Together they had 2 children, Floreda and Troy. In 1962, they moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma. In the 70’s, they moved to Nigeria where her husband worked for the pipeline as an equipment operator. While there, she did missionary work with children. They lived there for 21 months. After, they returned to Midwest City, and Florence lived there until 2012, when she moved to Arkansas to live with her son. Florence worked at different clothing stores as a saleswoman such as JCPenney’s, Sears, and Anthony’s clothing. She retired from Anthony’s clothing after 21 years. Florence loved taking care of her garden, and continued to do that until she was 90 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie; husband, T.R.; and siblings, Mildred, Mavis, Francis, Ruth, Louis, and Doyle.
She is survived by her daughter, Floreda Shelton; son, Troy Ellison (wife Linda); siblings, Eunice Adams, Paul Higgins (wife Mary), Clara Dyer (husband Earl), and Pauline O’Neal; grandchildren, Sondra, Michel (partner George), Rhonda (husband Scott), and Troy Jr.; great-grandchildren, Crystal (husband Steven), Ronnie (partner Lara), and Brandon (wife Katrina); great-great-grandchildren, Stevie, Corbin, Tatum, Caitlyn, Brantley, and K-amie; and other family and friends.
For those who prefer to send donations instead of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Florence’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Visitation for Florence will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City on Monday, May 20th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 21st at 2pm at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City. The family is inviting guests to eat at Don’s Alley in Del City following the burial, which will be Dutch treat.
