

Affectionately known as Fred, he accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East St. Louis, IL. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in District 189, Class of January 1966. Fred was raised in the South End neighborhood near 12th Street and Baker Avenue where he built many lifelong friendships and memories.
Following graduation, Fred dedicated many years to working in the manufacturing industry. Being a cancer survivor, he continued to persevere through life’s challenges before retiring in 2014. In June, 2016, he relocated to Oklahoma, where he reunited with his beloved sister and brother-in-law.
On July 5, 2026, Fred peacefully departed this life while in rehabilitation at Midwest City Acute Nursing Facility.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two children, Shauna ( Son-in-law) Maateen, Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Frederick Thompson, Jr.; his sister, Shirley Burden, Oklahoma City, OK; his cherished grandchildren; nephews, Marlon Thompson, Oklahoma City, OK, Kenya Holt, Josephine, TX and Donte Foley, East St. Louis, IL, along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
Fred’s strength, resilience, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him. His legacy will continue to live on through the family and friends who will cherish his memory always.
