Gary Dean Hale lost his fight with cancer on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at the age of 67 while he was at his Del City home surrounded by his family. Gary was born in Kansas City, MO. on August 25th, 1945 to parents Virginia Lamb and Daniel Hale Sr. He grew up in Lee's Summitt, MO. and was raised by his stepfather and mother, Harlan and Virginia Butts. Gary served in the Air Force and was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base outside of Alamogordo, NM. where he met the love of his life and devoted wife, Tommie Hale, and where married July 1, 1967. They had 2 children, Leslie Hale Showalter and Gary Dean Hale Jr. Gary also served in the National Guard and Civil Service for a combined 39 years of service. He finished his career while working for Tinker Air Force Base as a Quality Inspector and retired in 2007. Gary volunteered for many years with the Special Olympics in Stillwater, OK. and had a passion for old cars, as well as old Western books and movies. Gary always had a smile on his face and had a huge loving heart for all that knew him and always an upbeat disposition. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Tommie Hale, and his children, Leslie Hale Showalter, Gary Dean Hale Jr. and his wife Regan Hale, as well as grandchildren, Nixon Showalter and Parker Hale. Gary also left behind a brother, Daniel Hale, and two sisters, Lynn Olive and Janice Dalton and his stepmother Judy Hale. Gary was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Lamb, stepfather Harlan Butts, father Daniel Hale Sr. and brother Lanny Butts. Funeral services are being held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Liberty Christian Center (previously known as Alethia Temple) at 10 a.m. in the morning. Gary will be laid to rest at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.

I remember Gary being a tall, strong, hardworking man. I remember his voice. He was the epitome of "father". I remember how fiercely he loved Leslie and how special their daddy-daughter bond was. So much love to Tommie, Leslie, and Dean during this difficult time.

I remember his smile and his laugh. When we were kids I can't recall a time that he didn't have a smile on his face. And he had a great laugh that was uniquely his. Blessings to you Tommie, Leslie, Dean and family.
