George Rodney Gammon, age 72, of Moore, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on April 4, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1952, in Grand Prairie, Texas to George and Betty Gammon.
George graduated from Alamogordo High School, located in New Mexico in 1971. He then went on to attend classes at Oscar Rose Jr. College in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
George faithfully served his country. He served in the Air Force and would eventually retire from the Air National Guard with 30 years of total service.
When he wasn’t researching history and genealogy, George enjoyed going to the movies, playing cards, billiards, and bowling. He loved listening to country music, especially Tennessee Ernie Ford and Patsy Cline. George liked watching comedy shows and never missed a moment to crack an old man joke.
George found joy in watching sports with his favorite teams being the Oklahoma Sooners, St. Louis Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys.
He spent many memorable moments visiting his brothers in Florida where they spent time on the golf course, playing cards, sightseeing, and reminiscing about the good ole days.
George was a faithful man who loved the lord. He treasured every moment with his family, and family time is what he enjoyed the most.
Later in life, his favorite role was being Papa to his grandchildren. George found great joy and fulfillment in spending time with his family. George’s grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took delight in attending their various events and milestones.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Gammon.
George’s legacy is carried forward by his survivors: brothers Greg Gammon and William Gammon, son Jason Gammon, daughter Angela Smith and spouse Fred Smith, son Jeremy Gammon and spouse Brandi Gammon, son Kevin Gammon and spouse Toya Gammon, son Ryan Gammon and spouse Shay Gammon, grandchildren Jazmine, Kayla, Fred Jr., Sebastian, Tyler, Henley Jo, Daniel, Stevie, Elora, great grandchild Zelaya, and former wife Linda Gammon. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
