Gerry was born July 19, 1940 in Faxon, OK, the youngest of five siblings, David, Clarence, Helen and Rita, raised by her beloved mother Virgie Rothell. At a young age the family moved to Stonewall, OK, where she graduated high school. At 16, she was saved and baptized at Latta Baptist Church. She married young and began her adventures as a military wife and mother of four boys, Bill, Virgil, Travis, and Bryan Lancaster, working as a Designer in the fashion world and packing parachutes for the US Navy. In the early 60’s she made Oklahoma home again where she began her career as a banker. After marriage to Richard Wood, she became the proud Mom to two stepsons Rick and Ken Ray Wood. She always referred to her six boys with a proud smile. She had a great love of helping children at the Shriner’s Hospital and being a part of helping animals, squirrels, birds, dogs, and cats. Family was her most valued possession. As her family grew she finally was awarded with girls. Her first grandchild Crystal Dawn, Bill’s wife Peggy , Virgil’s wife Janet, Travis’s wife Chris, Rick’s wife Vi, and Kens wife Patti, then more grandchildren, Dustin, Kristen, Ladeana, Roni Michelle, Steven, Jason, Matthew, Jennifer, Ashley, Garrett and Kristina, 27 great-grandchildren and two handfuls of great-great-grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. Her love, compassion and homemade crafts and quilts will always be cherished by those she loved. In her memory note she wanted to encourage her family to keep a strong bond and love God and each other. Even through differences, love and forgive one another.
