Gerardo (Jerry) Saldaña was peacefully called to eternal rest by our Lord on October 21, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and cherished grandfather. He was born on August 12, 1952 in Robstown, Texas to Alberto G. Saldaña and Claudina C. Saldaña. Jerry survived by his loving wife and love of his life, Esther Saldaña and beloved mother Claudina Saldaña. He is preceded in death by his father, Alberto G. Saldaña, and brother-in-law Pablo Uballe. After 20 years, Jerry retired from the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant. Following retirement, he worked at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi as a Property Officer. South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind managing the base stores in Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Ingleside and 2 base stores in Mississippi. Jerry joined a Christian group, Singing for Christ, singing at local nursing homes. In 2010, he began working at Tinker Air Force Base as a tool room attendant. Where he not only handed out tools, he greeted everyone with a smile and “have a good day”. He was sought after by employees for spiritual guidance and encouraging words to bring smiles to everyone and handed out pieces of candy. His memory will continue to be cherished by his children: Gerardo (Veronica) Saldaña Jr., Rolando (Shannon) Saldaña, Irene (John Henry) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Adame, Benito De Leon. Including numerous grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Sisters: Maria (Keith) Reed, Rose Saldaña Bond, Adelita (Pablo) Uballe, Irma (Steve) Tripp, and brother, Martin (Eva) Saldaña and numerous nieces and nephews.
