Gilbert Mendez

Gilbert Mendez, age 58, of Oklahoma City passed away May 6, 2012. Gilbert was born November 8, 1953 and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y and Puerto Rico.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1973-1978. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and acquired many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years; Jana Mendez, 2 children; Jeremy and Crystal. He is also survived by his mother; Juanita Rodriguez, a brother; Angel Lopez, 2 nephews; Angel Lopez Jr. and Antonio Lopez, a niece; Jennel Lopez; his parents-in-law; Willis and Thelma Odelberg and brother-in-law; Tim Odelberg and wife Cathy and numerous other family members and friends . Preceded in death by one brother Nelson Lopez and his maternal grandmother Dominga Rivera and his grandfather Juan Rodriguez .

Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Meadowood Baptist Church, Midwest City, with Dr. Bob Rutherford officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home.
