from complications of diabetes. Family was very important to Glen and we are grateful we were close by at the end. Glen was born December 24, 1942 in Tampico, Illinois to Lee N. Clayton and Nola M. (Shay) Clayton, the fourth of six children. He was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Hitchcock High School.
Glen served four years (1963-1967) in the U.S. Navy and was discharged E-5 Petty Officer Second Class. He sailed around the world and served in the Tonkin Gulf aboard an electronics
Surveillance craft, the USS Oxford, a sister ship to the USS Pueblo. He was awarded both the National Defense Service Medal and the Viet Nam Service Medal.
Glen earned a B.S. in microbiology and secondary education at Oklahoma State
University. He worked as supervisory lab technician for Allied Materials Corporation
and Koch Materials Corporation in Stroud, Oklahoma.
Glen was Past Post Commander, American Legion, Past Grand Master, International
Order of Odd Fellows, and Past Master, AF&AM. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church and a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center, Prague, Oklahoma.
He is survived by siblings Rosalea P. Davis, Roland, Oklahoma, C.E. Clayton(Linda),
Ranchester, Wyoming, Louella J. Workman(John), Hyde Park, Utah, sister-in-law Nancy J. Clayton, Longmont, Colorado, cousin Betty Young, Seminole, Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in
death by brothers Gary E. Clayton and Jack R. Clayton, by a nephew, and by his parents.
Glen enjoyed many trips and cruises with his parents, sister Rose, and also nephew Greg. He was a major co-sponsor with Dad of young people sent on the U.N. trips. This included nieces and nephews, who would otherwise not have been able to go. Glen also helped take care of Mom and Dad and stepmother Doris for many years.
A memorial service celebrating Glen's life will be conducted at 10:00am on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Assembly of God Church in Stroud, with Rev. Jeremy Jackson officiating.
Interment will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Oklahoma City, around 2:30pm.
