Helen Marie Walker

September 5, 1953October 3, 2017

Helen Marie (Hinson) Walker, 64, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 with her love ones at her side. She was born September 5, 1953 in Oklahoma City, daughter of Oscar & Jean (Magerkurth) Hinson. Helen was the third of six children and she was preceded in death by her father Oscar Hinson. As a young woman, Helen enjoyed horseback riding. Her love of animals, especially dogs continued her entire life. She married Richard Lee Walker on April 13, 1973 in Midwest City, OK. Shortly after marrying Richard, Helen became ill and the doctor told her, she would not be able to have a family. Nine months later, Brandy was born. She dotted on her beautiful daughter and made every moment special. Decorating their home for Christmas and watching classic Christmas movies was one of the Walker’s favorite traditions. A legacy past down to Brandy and her family.

In more than 40 years of working with animals she trained German Shepherds in Schutzhund, Blood Hounds and bred Rottweilers and miniature Schnauzers. She showed Paint Horses as well. She also enjoyed playing bingo wearing her lucky pom-pom hat, reading, and spending time with her family. Helen went through some challenging times over the past 10 years with her health; however she was a woman with inward strength and very courageous. One of her favorite activities was watching movies with her granddaughter Mary.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years Richard; daughter Brandy Stanton; mother, Jean Hinson; siblings, Cecelia Smith and husband Randy, John Hinson, Carol Stealey and husband Ed, Joe Hinson and wife Sue, James Hinson; granddaughter, Mary Stanton and a host of relatives and friends.
