Hiram "Dusty" T. Chambless
November 11, 1929 – October 14, 2020
Hiram T. "Dusty" Chambless passed away from natural causes with family by his side on October 14, 2020 at the age of 90 in Midwest City, OK. He was born on November 11, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was raised on a farm in Clovis, New Mexico. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 17. Later he worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK for 40+ years as a civil servant, and retired in 1985. He married the love of his life, Jimmie Lyon, in 1950. They were together for 50 years.
Dusty lived at the same house for 65 years in Midwest City. He loved hunting, being outdoors, all sports, and was a big OU fan. He supported the Midwest City Bombers football team for many years, was a season ticket holder and would attend games with his family. He was very involved with all of his children and grandchildren, loved to teach them motorcycle riding and bicycle riding. He taught Hunters Education at the Oklahoma City Gun Club, and made many friends out there. His pride and joy was his dog, Pistol Pete.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie; two grandchildren, Ryan and Brad Chambless; daughter-in-law, Barbara Chambless; and son-in-law, Frank Gentry.
He is survived by his four children, Darrell Chambless (wife Christine), Carol Gentry (late husband Frank Gentry), Kevin Chambless (late wife Barbara, wife Cindy), Cheryl Chambless Taylor (husband Bill); grandchildren, Nick Gentry, Nicole Gentry, Cassie Francis (husband Lance), Audra Moore (husband Bryce); great-grandchildren, Kylee Gentry, Cody Gentry, Jackson Moore, and baby Francis on the way.
Visitation will be from 1-5pm Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City. A graveside service will be at 11am Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
