

Hollis Hassell, age 94 of Harrah, Oklahoma passed away on April 23, 2013. Hollis was born November 15, 1918 in Granite, Oklahoma to Cambriah and Josephine (Sewell) Hassell. He entered the military on April 9, 1942 and served four years. While serving he aboard many different ships including, the USS Prometheus, USS Perkins and the USS DeHaven. He was a long time deacon at Sunnylane Southern Baptist Church and later transferred membership to the Meadow Wood Baptist Church. He loved music, fishing, family and above all he loved going to church. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gelene and two brothers Mack and Pershing Hassell. He is survived by his sister LeeEdna Elder of Houston, Texas; his son: Wayne Hassell and wife Jennifer of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughters: Mary Yarberry and husband Larry of St. Claire, Missouri, Lu Anne Mason and husband Alfred of Cape Fair, Missouri and Valerie Asner and husband David of Moore, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Phillip Mason, Michael Hassell, Teresa Yarberry, Nick Yarberry and Amanda Koelsch; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, Del City, Oklahoma with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma.
