OBITUARY

Ilse Hildegard (Brommko) Martin

July 9, 1919July 23, 2013

Hildegard Ammeline Ilse Brommko was born July 9, 1919 to Wille and Frieda Brommko, she was the youngest of four children. Ilse, at the age of 17, was the last person to be found alive and rescued from a building that had been hit by a bomb in war torn Germany. She met and married Corporal John Martin in 1953. John passed away February 1972. During a tour of duty, they served in Lawton, Chicago, another tour in Germany and then the last tour in Oklahoma City.

Ilse loved working in her garden, the produce from her garden ranked with the very best. At Christmas time, you would find her in the kitchen making dozens of three tiered Christmas cookies. These cookies were given as cherished gifts to friends and family. Ilse loved to dance, her favorite was the waltz.

Ilse worked at Western Electric for several years and upon retirement began traveling the world. Her favorite mode of travel was on a cruise ship. Her best-loved trip, by far, was a trip around the world in three weeks with her traveling companion and friend, Carol Gallaher. She often traveled with a companion and lovingly included Carol and good friends Donelda Weathers and Cindy Wiley.

Ilse will be dearly missed by her friends, Dean and Tresa Gallaher, Bill and Lesa Skipper, Donelda Weathers, and Cindy Wiley. Her life was an inspiration to all of those around her including the grandchildren of her dear friend Carol, they are Donald Skipper, Michael Skipper, and Elizabeth Mills and their families.
