On Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, Jacent “Jay” Vick passed away after a short illness at the age of 50. Jay was born on August 28th, 1970 to Raymond and Sharen (Croy) Vick in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in Midwest City, Oklahoma where he developed a lifelong passion for music. A self-taught musician, Jay was an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who was a member of the Oklahoma City-based band JV’s Fillin’ Station with Bob Holliman and Jason Harper. He was admired for his showmanship and formidable flatpicking skills. Jay was also a voracious reader and a fan of classic cinema, and he was known for his good humor, sharp wit, and kindness.
Jay is preceded in death by his father, Raymond, his mother, Sharen, and grandparents, Harl and Dollie Croy. He is survived by his aunt, Marcia, cousin, Neal, and many close friends. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no funeral service will be held. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends in a way they know Jay would appreciate.
