Jack LeRoy (Roy) Alford was born near Morris, Oklahoma on January 13, 1913, where he lived until the 179th Infantry National Guard, the Thunderbirds, were mobilized and sent into active duty in Italy. He served 5 years and was wounded, for which he earned a Purple Heart. After peace was declared, he came to San Francisco where his sister, Bonnie Grace, his only sibling, lived. He married Virginia Calloway, who predeceased him, and lived there until his death, November 20, 2014. They had no children. His beloved niece, Wanda Howard, also predeceased him.
Survivors include his sister, Bonnie Grace Campbell, three beloved great-nieces, Sharon Howard, Lisa Frye, her husband, Curtis and their daughters, Laura, Stephanie Turner, her husband Larry and their daughter, Myers and son, Drake and niece Lynda Heatherington and great-nephew Jimmy. He also leaves many cousins, with whom he kept a very loving relationship throughout his life.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Shawnee, OK. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
