He carried his love of restoring vehicles through his career and retirement of general motors. As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed sharing his passion of fishing with his friends and family.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Carey; parents James and Georgia Carey; and nine siblings.
He is survived by four daughters, Debbie Carey, Shelley Carey-Estrella, Tina Carey, and Tiffany Carey, as well as their spouses; Grandchildren, Jeffrey, Lauren, Austin, Dylan, Gabby, Alex, and Eli; one great-grandchild Raelyn; as well as Michele Carey and Shirley Crosby, the mothers of his daughters.
In addition, he is survived by the family of his wife, Bonnie, children Jimmy and Mike Johnson, Sharon Tompkins, Karen Murdock, and their spouses; Grandchildren, Ashley Cook, Chris, Brent, and Lauren Jackson, Laura Murdock, Tyler, and Charlee Tompkins; and great-grandchildren Kylie, Keaton, Parker, Haleigh, and Caden.
He will be missed by many, and the celebration of his life will be continued through his family and the memories they shared with him.
