Jane Ann Branson, age 83, passed away peacefully December 2, 2020. She was born January 24, 1937 in Miami, Oklahoma to Wayne and Margaret Branson. She married the love of her life, Rudy Allen Tipton, in July 1962, who preceded her in death in 2013.
Jane was born and raised in Miami, OK. She graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1961 and received a master’s degree in education a few years later from the same university. She enjoyed teaching the first grade the majority of her thirty plus year career, but also taught Kindergarten, Special Education, and Home Economics at the junior high level. Jane covered as acting school principal when needed, a mentor for new elementary school teachers, and was a contributing author for a variety of elementary school level mathematics text books. Through her teaching, she took pride in how many children’s lives she touched and frequently followed the course of their lives.
Jane and Allen were active members of the Midwest Boulevard Christian and First Christian Churches of Midwest City and enjoyed square dancing and country and western dancing. After Allen’s passing, she moved to Tulsa to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She especially liked the teachings of Robert Schuller and his grandson, Bobby Schuller, and frequently encouraged her family and friends to watch their broadcasts and read their books with her or on their own. One of her favorite quotes from Robert Schuller was “I’d rather attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed.” She also frequently quoted and taught from his book, “Tough Times Never Last, Tough People Do.”
Jane is survived by her brother Roger Branson and his wife, Kay, (Edmond); her three children, Tonya Giessmann (Tulsa), Tami Webb (Houston), and Todd Tipton and his wife, Tama, (Tulsa); six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating her life. In lieu of flowers, she has requested donations be made to your local Meals-on-Wheels organization or One Hope Ministries in Tulsa.
