J.C. Hughes

J.C. Hughes was born to the late J.C. and Minnie Lee Hughes on November 27, 1928 in Pocasset, OK. J.C. graduated from Verden High School in 1947. He married Amma Jean Alexander on June 4, 1949 at First Baptist Church of Verden, OK. J.C. was a carpenter, never really retiring. He was a deacon at Soldier Creek Baptist Church for 38 years. He taught Men’s Adult III Sunday School for many years. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. J.C. is survived by his wife Amma Jean; one sister Lois Harrison; one son Roger Hughes and his wife Twylah; one daughter Judy Blalock and husband Bill; four grandchildren: Russel Hughes and his wife Deanna, Randy Hughes and his wife Shelly, Michael Blalock, Kelly Place and her husband Peetie Place; eight great-grandchildren: Wesley Quisenberry, Nick Quisenberry, Hunter Hughes, Hayden Hughes, Molly Blalock, Sam Place, Ryan Place, and Jack Place. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Soldier Creek Baptist Church with interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
