Jerome Ray Byington passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 8, 1946, in Goodwater, Oklahoma to James Byington and Lida Ann McKinney. Jerome was a man defined by his endless humor, patience, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Jerome always had room for more love. When he married Kwang Su in 1979, he didn't just become a husband --- he became a dedicated father and a true dad to Jimmy, Susie, and Annie. He guided us with a steady and, celebrated our victories as his own, and provided a pillar of stability and support we will forever cherish.
After graduating high school, Jerome Byington built a successful career as an Airmen of the United States Air Force. He retired after 23 years of service. He was a proud veteran, who served in the Vietnam War. Throughout his service, he received 11 medals and ribbons. Three of which from Vietnam, one being a bronze star.
Jerome was a beloved husband, devoted dad, a cherished grandpa, and a good friend. He was known for his endless jokes, quick wit, love for outdoors, and his love for cars and trucks. He loved tinkering with them. Mainly taking them apart and not putting them back together, haha.
Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lida, his brother, James, his sister, Teresa, his wife, Kwang Su, and his son, Jimmy.
Jerome is survived by his two daughters, Susie Lofties (Tim Sr) and Annie Printers (Ben Sr); six grandchildren, Tim Jr (Lacy), Alex, Ben Jr, Audible, Trinity, and Lillian; six great-grandchildren, Aubrielle, Ariss, Alianna, Ava, Santana, and Audible Jr.
Jerome leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and independence. He taught all three of his children to change their own tires. His go to answer for any of our questions whether it be homework or life questions, was "look it up". Here's one final whatsssup! And take it eagy (easy)! He will always be in our hearts and forever loved.
