6 Sep 1933 – 31 Dec 2017
Jimmie of OKC, was born to Genie and Lula Mae Cook in Milan, GA on 6 Sep 1933. She was raised in Chauncey, Ga and after high school graduation moved to Macon, GA where she worked at Robins AFB for the USAF. In 1951 she met Silas white Jr, a military man she would follow to all corners of the earth and support throughout his military career. She and Silas had four children and moved them to live in 6 states and 4 countries prior to his retirement from the Air Force.
While she left Georgia as a young girl, her heart remained. She returned often to see her family and visit the countryside she grew up in. Her love of gardening and animals was a common theme in her life. Daily walks and reading bible scripture led to a life-long positive outlook.
As a devoted mother, she nurtured her children and grandchildren, taught them the love of the lord, and stood as a shining example with compassion and respect for all she encountered. While her children were young she served as a scout leader, score keeper in various sports, and transported many teams to and from games. She was always there for family, neighbors, and friends.
Professionally, she worked as a secretary, car title clerk and at the tag agency. She was most passionate about the volunteer work she did for the Red Cross to include time with survivors and their families after the OKC bombing. She was a champion for seniors at various nursing homes where she was the “bingo lady” and made sure each participant left with a gift.
She is survived by her daughters Patti O’Donnell (Steve) of CA, and Lesa White of FL, and sons Dan White of OK and Don White of HI, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Valencia of CA, Christian White of TX, Lesley Kassube of OK, Jessica Woodman of CA and 4 great-grandchildren, 4 siblings; Herman (Sylvia), Donald (Meltine), Kenneth (Norma), and Ricky Cook. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, Silas White Jr., her parents and 3 siblings; Nathan, Ruby Jean, and Freddie.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered; visitation will be held 4-8 PM, Thur. Jan 4th. Funeral services at 1:00 PM Fri. Jan 5th 2018 followed by a reception for family and friends.
