Col. Jimmy Ray Jones, 80, passed away on July 18, 2011. Jim was born April 29, 1931 in Moore, OK to George C. and Ida Viola Jaquas. At age 15, Jim joined the OK Army National Guard and made a long time career serving from March 1947 to April 1991. He graduated from the very first class of Officer’s Candidate School and later was inducted into its hall of fame. He was very proud of his service in the 45th Infantry Division and in the Korean War.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons and great-granddaughter. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Margo; children, Mike & Carol Jones, Pat Collins, Richard Griffis, Warren & Kim Griffis, Carl & Alison Griffis, III, Sandee & Eric Haight, Rokki & Greg DeBoard, Jimi & Ryan Shimp, Jakob Jones; brothers, Jack Jones (Betty), Donnie Jones (Joni); 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Viewing is at Eisenhour Funeral Home Sunday 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25 at the Del City Church of Christ.
