

John David Slayton, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on August 3, 1967, in Oklahoma City, he dedicated his life to serving others--first as a veteran and later as a compassionate LPN nurse.
John proudly served in the United States Navy, Army Reserves, and Air Force Reserves from 1985 to 1995, demonstrating his deep commitment to his country. His passion for helping others continued in his nursing career at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he provided care and comfort to countless veterans.
Beyond his work, John found joy in the freedom of the open road, riding his motorcycle on beautiful days. He also enjoyed going to the gym to stay in shape, reading books, and listening to comedy podcasts. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren, Avorianna and Liam, with whom he shared many cherished moments.
John is survived by his children, Taylor Brand and Travis Slayton: his mother, Mary Slayton; his sister and brother-in-law , Lindsay and Dan Evans; and his beloved grandchildren Avorianna and Liam, and his cherished nieces, Kimmi, Mattie, Grace, and Kennedy, as well as his best friend in life, Angela Slayton. His love and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Joe Slayton; his grandparents, Rose Frances Dixon and Frank John Dixon; and Bob Slayton and Tilla Slayton.
A service to honor his life will be held at a later date.
John's legacy of kindness, service, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
