

Larry James Holland passed away November 27th, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 71. He was born September 19, 1943 in Dodge City, Kansas to Alfred James Holland and Maxine Pearl (Flynn) Holland. Larry grew up in Kinsley, Kansas with two half-sisters, Connie and Cheryl, and graduated from Kinsley High School in 1961. He joined the Air Force soon after and spent several tours in Viet Nam. He married Mary Beth Young on July 20, 1969. The two traveled all over Europe while stationed in Germany where their daughter, Brandi, was born in 1976. Larry retired from the Air Force in 1982, after 20 years of faithful service. His son, Edward, was born that same year, in Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, Larry worked in the oil field while attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. Larry eventually went back to the Air Force as a civilian, working in ground safety for another 20 years. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 2006. During his retirement, Larry's grandchildren, Gracelyn and Carson, were born and quickly became his pride and joy. Larry had a passion for travel, soccer, the Jayhawks, and his family. He spent many busy weekends watching his children play soccer through the years, as well as coaching other's children in the sport. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sisters, Connie and Cheryl; his daughter, Brandi; his son, Edward; 2 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He graced our lives with is quirky sense of humor, his generosity, his friendship, and his love. Memorial services will be held at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local Law Enforcement Memorial funds or Humane Societies.
