

Leonard Melvin Arnold, 88, a former Shawnee and Del City resident, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 in Wichita, Kansas. Leonard was born at Mountain Top, Arkansas on March 14, 1924, the son of Oscar and Edith Arnold. As a child, he lived in both Arkansas and Oklahoma and graduated from Asher High School in Asher, Oklahoma. After graduation, he moved to Shawnee and married Nola Beatrice McMahan, of Ozark, Arkansas. They were married in Oklahoma City on April 3, 1952 and were together 57 years until her death in 2009. He worked at the Shawnee Garment Factory for approximately twenty years and then was employed by the Tinker Field Air Force base for 23 years until his retirement in 1988. He was the father of two sons, Roger Wayne Arnold, 59, Wichita, Kansas, and John Alan Arnold, 54, Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Arnold had been a member of the Free Methodist Church in Midwest City and was well-loved by anyone who ever had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his two sons, Roger and John; two daughters-in-law, Renee, and Suzanne; five step-grandchildren, Miriam Porter, St. Louis, MO, Ruth Allen, Alexandria, VA, Andrew Gleghorn, Springdale, AR, Lacy Fields, St. Louis, MO, and David Fields, Overland Park, KS; seven step-great grandchildren, Hannah Allen, St. Louis, MO, Daniel Allen, Alexandria, VA, Robert Gleghorn, Henryetta, OK, Tanner Little, Sallisaw, OK, Ryan, Colton, and Carson Gleghorn, Springdale, AR; and one step-great great grandchild, Wesley Allen, St. Louis, MO.
