

Lonie Vandle (Hank) Henderson was born April 20, 1931, in Elmore County, AL. He went to his heavenly reward on November 21, 2015. He married Patricia Ann McNeil on August 13, 1954, in Nashville, TN. Hank was preceded in death by his wife Pat; an infant son Michael; parents J.E. and Annie Swindoll Henderson; and his brothers Owen and John Henderson. He is survived by a son Danny Henderson and wife Julie of Springfield, VA; daughter Michelle McRay and husband Steve of Chickasha, OK; granddaughters Mandi McRay of Chickasha, OK; Kacee McRay- Schow, and husband Denver Schow of Edmond, OK; Elizabeth Henderson of Edmond, OK; and Emily Henderson of Springfield, VA; and great grandson, Jacen McRay of Chickasha, OK. Hank was a 1949 graduate of Holtville High School in Deatsville, AL. Several months after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. He faithfully served until his retirement in 1971at Tinker AFB, OK. He later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Radar Technician and Instructor at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, OK before completing his Federal civilian career as the Deputy Director of Information Systems at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in 1988. During both his military and civilian careers, Hank was active at every local congregation of the Church of Christ where he and his family resided. He willingly volunteered to preach, teach, and serve in leadership roles as a Deacon and Elder. He was called to be a Shepherd for churches in Louisiana, Tennessee, and the family’s home church – the Del City Church of Christ.After his retirement, he and Pat moved back to the Del City/Midwest City area to be a part of their loving church and to be closer to Danny and Michelle and their families and eagerly attend OU football games in Norman and on the road as long as they were physically able. He became an active staff member for the Del City church serving in several capacities and lovingly devoted much of his time ministering to the congregation’s senior citizens. He also served on the staff of the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home as an associate for over ten years His impact on people has been far-reaching. He will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable contribution to the Missions Fund at Del City Church of Christ, 1901 Vickie Drive, Del City, OK 73115 Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Del City Church of Christ with interment at Rosehill Cemetery, Chickasha, OK.
