Loraine Barr

Lois Loraine Barr, 82, passed away January 26, 2013 after a lengthy battle with illness. She was the first daughter of W.C. and Beulah Payne of Stratford, OK. Loraine was a devoted wife to her compassionate husband of nearly 65 years, Tandy Barr. She is also survived by daughter Tandyla Hill; son Ronald Barr; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Preston and Marvin Payne; sister Darlene Leadbetter. A 60-year member of the Del City Church of Christ, she taught 3-year-olds and was known as the Birthday Bell Lady and the Bookmark Lady for the 2340 bookmarks she crocheted for members. Loraine was a patriotic citizen active in Moore PTA, serving every office, including President; President of the Moore Council of PTA’s; State PTA Vice-President. She was named Moore’s Woman of the Year in 1969 for her outstanding school and civic service. She was also named to the “Personalities of the South” in 1971. Her family will welcome visitors Tuesday, January 29 from 6pm to 8 pm at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home 5005 SE 29th St Del City, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Del City Church of Christ, 1901 Vickie Dr. with burial at the Sunnylane Cemetery.
