Loreta Mae "Tillie" Wegener-Bush

Loreta Mae “Tillie” Wegener-Bush was born on October 28, 1927 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to John Oscar Tilley and Mamie Dale Salter-Tilley. She was the youngest of nine children and grew up in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven, and all her siblings.

Tillie attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma A&M College. She was a die-hard “Cowboys” fan.

In 1947, she married Lt. Col. Willis B. “Mike” Wegener and began a life of global travel with him and their two sons, Steven M. (Linda) and Jeffrey A. (Maura) Wegener. Mike and Tillie were married for 45 years and lived in Japan, Taiwan, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, and New York. They retired to Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1967. Mike preceded Tillie in death in 1992.

Tillie married the second love of her life, Col. Joseph Bush, in 1996. They moved to Epworth Villa in 2006. Joe and Tillie enjoyed 13 years of international travel until Joe’s death in 2009. Joe’s two sons, Daniel (Cynthia) and Bill (Georgina) were a wonderful addition to her family along with Danny’s children (Gideon, Tucker, and Erinn) and grandchildren.

Tillie led an active life with involvement in the Air Force Wives Club, bowling, golf, dancing, and music. She was a magnificent grandmother to Nicholas and Jessica, Steve’s children.

A memorial service for Tillie will be held at 2pm Friday, July 17, 2026 at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City.
