Marcelle Mae Eckart

Marcelle Mae Eckart, 98, of Midwest City, Oklahoma passed away on April 30, 2018. Marcelle was born on March 30, 1920 in Handsboro, Mississippi to Jesse Allen and Emma M. (Stafford) Morris.
After high school, Marcelle moved to San Diego to live with her sister-in-law, Kitty Morris. While in San Diego, she met her husband Gilbert Eckart who was a CPO stationed there in the Navy. The two married in February of 1945.
Marcelle was a Navy spouse, active in the NCO Wives’ Club and she raised five children, moved households from Guam to the panhandle of Florida, the Hawaii Territory, and southern Texas and Louisiana. In 1961, upon Gilbert’s retirement from the Navy, she moved to Midwest City and became a member at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She worked as a proofreader for the new Oklahoma Journal newspaper before joining Civil Service at Tinker AFB. For many years she won the Salvation Army Doll Dressing Contest held on base. She was a part of the American Business Women’s Association. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1982.
Marcelle is survived by her two youngest sons, Christopher Eckart and Gilbert “Buddy” Eckart, Jr., both of Midwest City. Her grandchildren, Jeff Eckart, Shelton Eckart, Steve Eckart, Andrew Parker, Sean Benton, Abby Billings, Ben Conard, Hazel Eckart, Benita Eckart, and Ronald Eckart, and by great-grandchildren, Ashton, Jordan, Blake, Heidi, and Kason.
Marcelle is preceded in death by her husband, Giblert Eckart, Sr., her daughter, Carol Eckart, and her sons, Ronald Eckart and Patrick Eckart.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 03, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
