Marilyn Gaye Barnard, 70, has entered into God’s kingdom on March 4, 2023. She was born on April 24, 1952 to Mary and Glen Mandrell. Marilyn was raised to be a tenacious and passionate woman. Whether it be working on cars or playing sports with the neighborhood boys, her prowess, strength, and athleticism never failed to impress. Marilyn was also an avid musician with many musical talents. Namely, she was known by her family, friends, and community for her skillful playing of the saxophone.
Upon graduation from Crooked Oak High School in 1970, Marilyn married and raised a loving family. Marilyn worked a long career for Aetna and Oklahoma Health Care Authority ensuring individuals and families had adequate access to medical care. She continued to work tirelessly through the years to provide for her family. As those who knew her can attest, Marilyn was a truly selfless individual who routinely thought of others before herself. With her home being open to those needing a warm meal or a roof over their head, she was able to touch the lives of many.
Marilyn was a generous, kind, and passionate woman survived by her son, Zachary Barnard; daughter, Veronica Lampe; sister, Linda Steward; brother, Roger Mandrell; son-in-law Paul Lampe; daughter-in-law, Andrea Barnard; granddaughter, Katelynn Lampe; grandsons, Nickolas Lampe, and Arden Barnard. She was such a loving and generous soul who taught others to love one another as the Lord loves us.
Service will be held at Sunny Lane Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, Oklahoma, 73115 at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 11th with a graveside ceremony then reception immediately following. Viewing will be open on Friday March 10th between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Sunny Lane Funeral Home and Cemetery.
