Martha Anne Dooley

Martha Anne Dooley resident of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away on May 13, 2022. Martha was born on February 28, 1939 in Kilbourn LA. to W.A. and Leona Connell. Martha grew up in east Texas, graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1957. After graduation Martha moved to Dallas TX in June of 1957 to attend Comptometer School. In August of 1957 Martha and a friend went on a blind double date with a couple of young United States Air Force airmen. Midway through the date one of the airmen talked the other into trading dates because he was so taken with Martha’s freckles and red hair. Much to the chagrin of her parents she married that airman, Bill Dooley, 6 weeks later on September 21, 1957. They were devoted to each other and raised their family while moving to various military bases in France, Missouri, North Dakota, Kansas and Guam. In 1976 they relocated to Tinker AFB and settled in Del City following Bill’s retirement from the United States Air Force. Martha and Bill traveled around the country with favorite destinations being Maine, the Gulf Coast and numerous trips to Stafford VA. They continued to travel together until their late 70s enjoying each and every trip.

Martha worked various jobs throughout the years but her real passion was family. The titles she relished most were that of wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Martha would tell anyone that would listen she loved being a mom to three boys. She embraced the noise, the chaos, the massive quantities of food and the inevitable messes three boys would make. We could always count on mom to be in the stands whether it was baseball, band, award ceremonies or school functions. As much she loved being a mom to boys, she absolutely adored her daughters Dianne, Yong and Gwen when they joined the family. Upon the births of Kimberly, Charles, Brittany and Rachel she relished her new role and title of Grandma. When her youngest granddaughter Keely was born, she delighted in her title of MawMaw. After the births of her two great-grandchildren Kinley and Harper, she was thrilled to be their Gigi.

Martha was preceded in death by her dear parents W. A. and Leona Connell and brother Gerald Connell. She is survived by Bill, her loving husband of 65 years, her three boys and their families; son, Jim Dooley, his wife Dianne and granddaughter Keely of Oklahoma City, son, Mike Dooley, his wife Yong and grandchildren Kimberly and Charles of Stafford VA., son Mark Dooley and wife Gwen and granddaughters Brittany and Rachel, and great-granddaughters Kinley and Harper of Stafford VA. Her love of family, lemon desserts and daisies will be forever remembered.
