Mattie Elizabeth “Betty” Dickson Hulin, 88, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 in Corn, Oklahoma. She was born October 8, 1928 to Roy and Lou Ellen (Loy) Necessary in Stroud, Oklahoma. Mattie married Jimmie Dickson on December 13, 1947.
Mattie was affectionately known as “Betty” who was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother. A consummate mother and homemaker, who was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her “’whoopy pies” were divine. Over the years, she would create some incredible dishes. She also enjoyed gardening and her beloved dogs. But her greatest passion was caring for her family and she was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Mattie was preceded by her parents; husband, Jimmie Dickson; sister, Georgia Newnam; brother, Roy C “Bud” Necessary, Jr.; grandson, Tyler Holcomb Dickson. She is survived by her children, Sue Hawk and husband, Fred; Janelle Giblet and husband, Allen; Tommy D. Dickson, and wife, Pamela; sister, Barbara Smith; brother, James Necessary and wife, Beatrice; five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
