

Mildred “Jean” Crossley, beloved wife, mother and friend, went to be with her Lord in heaven on June 23, 2015. Born in Elk City, Oklahoma on May 6, 1928 to O.A. and Ruby I. Deatherage, she was raised in Springer, Oklahoma and attended school at Mt. Washington and Springer school districts.
She and son, Mike, resided in Ventura, California from 1951 to 1962, where she was an administrative assistant at the Ventura County Hospital. She enjoyed living by the ocean and was baptized during this time.
After returning to Oklahoma, she worked as an administrative assistant at Oklahoma Tire and Supply, Government Employees Exchange, and The National Iron Workers Training Program.
She met the real love of her life, Daniel W. Crossley, and they married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1975. Together, they started and operated “Dan’s Indian Tacos”, where they operated at the State Fair of Oklahoma, The Arts Festival, Rose Rock Festival, Medieval, and other events until their age forced them to retire. They were active in The Shriners, where Dan was a member of the “Nomads Unit”.
Jean is survived by sisters, Ima Keith and Louise Elmore of Ardmore, Oklahoma; son, Mike Burkhart and wife, Sherri, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Danette Crossley; son, Danny Crossley and wife, Beth; Leonard Dodd, his wife, Eloise, and their son, Brian, and daughter, Angela, of Newalla, Oklahoma; grandsons, Timothy Michael, Jack Ryan, Jon and wife, Sandy, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Scott and wife, Carrie of Moore, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Danielle and Jordon Grace; and many other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Jean was preceded in death by the love of her life Dan Crossley; her parents, O.A. and Ruby I. Deatherage; sisters: Billy Hill, and Joyce McDowell
